Italian F4 Championship: Nicola Lacorte debuts at the Red Bull Ring with Cetialr Racing
(Cetilar Racing press office release)
After turning 15 last June, Nicola Lacorte is ready to make his debut in a single-seater. A debut that the Tuscan driver will face this weekend at the Red Bull Ring. The Austrian circuit will host the fifth of the seven rounds of the Italian F4 Championship.
The son of Roberto Lacorte (this year engaged in the American series IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup with the Cetilar Racing team) has come from an important experience in karting, culminating in participation in major championships with Kart Republic and the support of the Cetilar Academy program.
In Formula 4 Nicola will instead take to the track with the Cetilar Racing team, at the wheel of a car managed by Iron Lynx. The team is a reference point in the Italian Championship, which was inaugurated in 2014 by the victory of Lance Stroll and which, from this year, is open to the new Tatuus equipped with halo and which comply with all the most modern technical regulations.
On the more than 4.3 km of the Styria track, Nicola Lacorte has previously already completed four days of testing; the last at the beginning of August. But he also drove in Vallelunga, Monza, Mugello, Misano and Cremona, trying to get to know the new generation car as much as possible.
“The Red Bull Ring is a pretty short, very technical and difficult track, where you have to work a lot on detail to file hunderds after hundreds at each corner. But it is a circuit with a particular natural appeal and location that I really like», said Lacorte «junior».
«After a long and intense test program that has seen Nico grow and acquire more and more experience, we have finally arrived at the moment of the race debut – added Andrea Piccini, team principal of Iron Lynx – Given the results of the last test carried out right on the Red Bull Ring track, we are confident and believe he has all the credentials to do well. Surely the tight times of the weekend and the pressure of the debut among so many cars and among more experienced drivers, will be an important test for him. We are really curious to see how he will react. The fact that he now feels at home with the team, after having worked with us for a year, and the fact that he now has a solid working method will help him a lot».
Participation in the Red Bull Ring race will also be followed by the two final rounds of Monza and Mugello, both scheduled for October. All in view of 2023.
The two collective test sessions are scheduled for tomorrow, while the two qualifying rounds are scheduled for Friday from 14.15. The first of the four races (each lasting 25 minutes plus one lap to complete) will start at 9.10, followed by Race 2 which will start at 14.45. Green light for Race 3 on Sunday morning at 10.35, while the last race will be reserved only for the drivers who accumulate the most points in the previous ones and will start at 17.25, again with live streaming on the Championship’s YouTube channel and live on ACI Sport TV.
