13 teams will face each other on the track in a show not to be missed
At the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola it’s time for the first weekend of the Italian F.4 Championship 2022 is about to start. 33 on the grid ready to compete for the first assault of the season, with 13 teams behind them, in the most competitive Formula 4 series and of highest international value at the moment. As a prove of the great worldwide attractiveness of the Championship, in Imola there will be drivers from 4 different continents.
The reigning Champion team, the Dutch Van Amersfoort Racing, significantly increases its commitment to the series this year by deploying a 5-driver lineup in the first round, with Arias Deukmedjian, Emerson Jr Fittipaldi, the Italian Brando Badoer, Martinus Stenshorne and Jules Castro. Another 5 cars, then, also for the Italian team, 2021 vice-champion, Prema Racing. The Vicenza based team in Imola with the Austrian Charlie Wurz (already winner of the F4 UAE series in the early stages of 2022), Andrea Kimi Antonelli, talented Mercedes Junior Driver who had already brought Prema’s colors to the podium at last year’s final by participating in the last 2021 rounds; then the Austrian James Anthony Wharton, the Dane Conrad Laursen and the Brazilian Rafael Camara.
5 drivers ready to race also for the team headed by Ralf Schumacher and Gerhard Ungar, US Racing: Portuguese Pedro Perino, the Irish driver Alexander Dunne, the Polish driver Kacper Sztuka, the French-Finnish talent Marcus Amand and the US driver Nikhil Bohra. Iron Lynx, for the home race, chooses on Ivan Franco Domingues, flanked by the female driver supported by Ferrari Driver Academy, Maya Weug, confirmed from last year. The Swiss team Jenzer Motorsport will deploy the duo Aleksander Partyshev and Ethan Ischer. R-ace Grand Prix is betting instead on the Danish Frederik Lund and the Austrian Marcos Flack.
Pedro Clerot and Ismail Akhmed will then be in Imola with the colors of the AKM Motorsport team; then the Como based team, Cram Motorsport, shows up on the track with a car assigned to Ricardo Escotto and, to complete the list of teams that had already participated in the 2021 edition of the Championship, AS Motorsport, which assigns its car to the Italian driver Giovanni Maschio.
In addition, the «new arrivals» ready to compete for the title, the Austrian team BWR Motorsport, which bets on the Sicilian driver Alfio Spina and the Singaporean Anandraj Rishab. Cars Racing with Andrea Frassineti will also make his debut in the Championship. Then the all-Swiss team Maffi Racing, with Elia Sperandio in the cockpit and PHM Racing, which instead offers a team already run-in with Nikita Bedrin (best Rookie 2021), Jonas Ried and Taylor Barnard. In addition, with PHM Racing, also the second female driver competing in the Italian F.4 Championship 2022, Victoria Blokhina.
A show not to be missed therefore, in Imola, for the first act of the Formula 4 Championship organized by ACI Sport promoted by WSK Promotion. It starts Friday May 6th with the collective tests at 9.35, then free practice at 18.35, in both cases 40′ sessions. Saturday May 7th resumes with qualifying in the morning, two 15 ‘sessions starting at 9.00 and 9.25. Race 1 in the afternoon, with start at 14:55. Sunday May 8th, for race 2 starts at 10.30, and, for the last race of the weekend, the start is scheduled at 17.30.
All the race sessions will be broadcast live on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228 and DT 402), http://www.motorsport.com and on the Facebook and Youtube pages of the Italian F.4 Championship, already from the starting grid, 5 minutes before of the start of the race.
